Booking information

The court booking sheets are pinned on the main notice board. These are put up six days in advance as follows:—
Sunday - Wednesday 8:00pm the previous Monday - Thursday
Thursday - Saturday 6:00am the previous Friday - Sunday

Peak playing times are as follows:—
weekdays: 6:00; 6:40; 7:20; 8:00; 8:40; 9:20

Weekends: All times

Booking tickets come in three colours as follows:

Green - Off peak and junior booking
Yellow - All peak time booking
Red - Telephone and guest booking.

Booking is normally done by affixing the appropriate colour sticker in the appropriate court time space on the booking sheet. Once affixed, stickers may not be removed. If you do so you will be liable for a fine.

Should you arrive at the club half an hour or less before an available court time, you may claim the court by writing your name or initials in the space where you would normally affix the sticker.

If you book by telephone, you are requested to pay the booking charge on the evening that you play. Any abuse of this system will mean that further telephone bookings will be refused until such time as the payment is made.

Court bookings may be canceled. If you know of somebody who can use the court, offer it to them. If not, write “FREE” on the sticker. This is only permissible up to three days before its use, should it remain free. However, it may be marked free inside the three day limit, without penalty, providing that someone else takes up that court.

The court lighting is controlled by meters next to the court doors. They are operated by the insertion of magnetic stripe cards. Each use of the card allocates 20 minutes duration of the lights. The display on the meter shows the amount of time left. Also, when you first insert your card, it displays the number of uses remaining on that card. When it displays a zero, throw it away in the bin provided in the court access corridor. Cards are sold with 2 uses(Yellow coloured) or 5 uses(White coloured) on them. From time to time, malfunctions of cards and meters can occur. Please report these to the bar staff who will take the appropriate action.
